Back on February 21st, 2009, The Kansas Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society held their annual PAS Day of Percussion. This year's event was held at the Kansas State University campus. There were some exciting and informative clinics and performances by marching percussionist Colin McNutt, Mario DeCiutiis for electronics, Julius Zilinskas displaying his marimba talents, and the percussion ensembles for Olathe East High School and Kansas State University. The show's featured clinician was drumming legend Chester Thompson, best known for his work with Genesis and Phil Collins. Taye Drums donated a door prize of a TourPro Fusion configuration in Purple Heart (10x8 ½, 12x9, 14x11 rack toms, 22x18 bass drum, 14x6 snare drum). The lucky player that got to take this kit home is Mathew Keller (yes, that is the correct spelling of his name) from Olathe, Kansas. Mathew is a student at Kansas University and was happy to make it off the KSU campus alive along with the drum set. We look forward to partnering with PAS in future events and keep on drumming! |

For immediate release from MusiCo: Taye's distributor in Ireland has added Andre Antunes has decided that Taye Drums are his drums of choice. Andre is currently holding down the drum chair for the Republic of Loose and as an independent drummer in Ireland he has worked with Amy Winehouse, Styles P, Louis Stuart, Sinéad O'Connor, Damien Dempsey, Soprano Judith Mok, Cora Venus Lunny, Dance Theathre of Ireland, Coiscem Dance Company and Festival of World Cultures with SDDance and the Irish Drum Festival. He has also found time to create his own group, +55 Band, purveyers of very danceable Samba Rock.  André chose a Taye Studio Maple 6pce kit consisting of 22x18 Bass Drum, 10" & 12" rack Toms, 14" and 16" Floor Toms, we converted the 14x6 Snare to a Woodhoop Snare, with amazing results (see the picture above), and a 13x5 side snare. He is also using the Taye XP1.01 kick pedal as part of his hardware line-up. Welcome, Andre, to the Taye Drums' Family! |

Taye Drums introduced the Wood Hoop snare drums back in 2006 with their the Taye Specialty line of limited run snare drums. Now let us all fast forward to the present day of 2009. 
We are excited to announce we have put a schlacking on these hoops. You can get your snare drums customized with a Black Gloss Lacquer on your 14 ply maple snare drum hoops. Not only can you dress up your snare drum like a tuxedo, you can also give it the "natural look" with the Natural Gloss hoops.
